Dropping another Founder Feature on ya! Within this series, we chat with the founders of the 5th Cohort of The Mentor Network to learn more about them as individuals, as well as their entrepreneurial journeys. They have some great wisdom and experience to share with the rest of the community!
Today, we get to know Josh Adamous, CEO of Mthd! Josh entered into The Mentor Network under the business, Collaborate. There was a lot of great learning that took place during the 6-month timeframe – mainly, feedback from many mentors and potential customers. Now, like so many entrepreneurs, he has pivoted slightly and Mthd was born! Mthd is a web app that helps folks with ideas… [ahem! – entrepreneurs] bring them into reality through organization, planning and equipping entrepreneurs with the fundamentals to learn how to validate, build and scale their ideas.
What did you do before you were the Founder of your startup?
User Experience Design and Development.
Why this startup? A.k.a. what is your ‘why’?
I don’t think starting a successful business should be hard. I want to help people bring their ideas to life. So, I put the blueprint, tools, and the resources necessary to build products or services, all within a web app.
What was your first milestone/win that let you know you were on the right track to build this business?
The constant validation that people have great ideas, yet have absolutely no idea how to execute them. Also, seeing more and more tools/apps attempt to solve this problem, yet fail.
Why did The Mentor Network stand out to you as a positive program to be involved with?
The network, resources, and culture.
What have your big wins been so far within The Mentor Network?
Go-to-market Strategy / MVP build confirmation.
How do you maintain sanity in this crazy, insane startup world?
I have three beautiful kiddos and one on the way. My wife and I love working remotely. We spend our time learning, playing, and becoming better people.
KC has so many resources and people to help entrepreneurs. What are we still missing? What gaps do you think we need to fill?
(Might be biased here…) More family-based ‘entrepreneurial’ activities, learning and education. I’d also like to see more events to teach collaboration, strategy and being a good leader.
Regarding the KC startup ecosystem, what has been your favorite service/resource that you would like to share with other founders to take advantage of?
The sights. Sometimes the simple things are the most inspirational. Each wonder required an idea and a team of devoted individuals to bring it to life.
If you could go back to the day you started this journey and give yourself one piece of advice what would it be?
